German Telling Time | Speaking & Listening A1
Save preparation time with two German telling time lessons, including visual explanations, listening audio and 10 partner speaking cards.
Why does halb zehn mean 9:30? Clock arrows, colour coding and pizza mnemonics help beginners understand the patterns, then use them in everyday conversations.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
• 25 lesson slides, including 10 speaking cards and a six-question listening activity
• Separate MP3 recording for the listening activity
• Two linked videos explaining formal and informal time
• Linked interactive activities to reinforce learning
• One additional Teacher Guide slide with the listening answer key
TWO LESSONS: FROM UNDERSTANDING TO SPEAKING
Introduce formal 24-hour time and informal expressions with nach, vor, Viertel and halb, including vor halb / nach halb. Check understanding through listening, then move into paired speaking.
The speaking cards put time into familiar situations: WhatsApp, gaming, school, train travel, cinema and appointments. Each card includes a question and two times, so both partners take turns asking and answering in full sentences.
Students practise Wie spät ist es? and Um wie viel Uhr …?, connecting clock reading with meaningful communication.
Suitable for A1 German learners who already know numbers 0–59. Designed for classroom projection—no printing required.
Files: non-editable PDF presentation and separate MP3. Internet access is required for linked videos and interactive activities.
