Physcial and Human features of Brazil
Part of the introduction lessons on Brazil- this will take a double lesson.
This lesson introduce pupils to the physical and human features of Brazil.
Starter- watch a ‘Welcome to Brazil’ video.
Introductory facts, size, captial city etc.
Main activity- around the room task, pupils make a table in their books
Picture number description physical or human?
As pupils work their way around the room they will collect information, filling this table in as they go.
Activity 2- Use atlases for assistance, locate them on a map of Brazil.
Plenary- postcard home.

Introduces pupils to religion, language, people, and living conditions of Africa.

Measuring Tornadoes- The Fujita scale
I put this together for low ability year 8
Lesson includes a starter that is a recap on the location and formation of a tornado.
Main activity- un-jumble the Enhanced Fujita Scale and put it in the correct order. Pupils then annotate the images describing the destruction. Using the Fujita scale correctly match up the images to the intensity (F0-F5) .
Create a poster telling people what to do in a tornado.
Plenary- There is an interactive storm scale that pupils can look at and categorize accordingly.

Introduces pupils to development indicators with a focus on Africa.
