Complete resource for teaching Holes to UKS2. Slides for all 50 chapters of the novel with low-stakes recap questions, vocabulary work and SATs style questions 157 slide powerpoint designed to support the teaching of reading across all domains and to help prepare children for SATs. SATs style questions to help children become familar with the layout I use this powerpoint for my entire teaching resource when reading Holes with my Year 6 class. I deliberately do not ask the children to record formally in these lessons and they share their answers verbally to promote oracy and also with a collaborative learning partner or on a whiteboard. The powerpoint is 157 slides long and includes SATs style questions (and answers at the end of every chapter (or in some cases two chapters when they are short.) It totals 37 lessons which takes me a half term to complete and gives me the opportunity to explicitly teach my class how to tackle the three mark questions in the reading test. It also includes key vocabulary for each chapter and also a couple of texts to promote deeper understanding and cross curricular learning.

This is the powerpoint I used with my Yr6 class in the last week of term to squeeze one more piece of writing in but in a fun way. The children absolutely loved this mini project and the finished results were really impressive. This resource is a set of 21 slides with inspiration success criteria and WAGOLLS which could be used after watching The Grinch film.

50 slide powerpoint for the first 6 chapters of Wild Boy - a great novel for whole class reading in Year 5 or 6. Slides contain all the features of effective whole class reading lessons: recap, vocabulary, comprehension questions. I have also included a question / task for the whole class at the end of each lesson that is designed to look like the SATs style. I just have this on the interactive whiteboard and follow through it in my WCR lesson as it is all prepared and has everything I need. There are a couple of accompanying worksheets that I am happy to include although I tend to make my lessons reading focused and don’t ask the children to do much recording. I am intending to add the rest of the slides for the full novel and will share them on here if anybody is interested

A week-by-week breakdown of the Letters and Sounds curriculum that takes children from the start of Reception to the end of Phase 6. I have linked in the requirements from the 2014 National Curriculum for the phases covered in Year One and Year Two so that all the Common Exception Words and spelling rules are covered. I made this with the intention of a more smooth path through FS2 and KS1 for greater consistency between classes and more trackable progress. It includes: 83 teaching week overview, with everything in one document for ease of planning and demonstration of progression in teaching. the blendable words for each week making weekly planning easier by reducing the need to search for words or consult multiple documents the blendable phrases, captions and sentences for each week making weekly planning easier by reducing the need to search for words or consult multiple documents space to type the date beside each week so that SLT / monitoring can easily track progression.
