Miss Sillman's WJEC New Spec English Language Reading Revision Guide

My AMAZING friend Rachel made this and has said I could share it, but all credit goes to her. It covers what we are calling the 'Big 6' or the high tariff question styles in the new GCSE. It is a seriously beautiful piece of work. If you want to find out more from her check out @rsillmanenglish on Twitter. Thanks for stopping by!

Whole Class Feedback Sheet

(2)
Inspired by the great @teachertoolkit, this sheet is for use after I have marked student books, a test or anything that requires a developed level of feedback. This version is designed with English in mind but could easily be used for other subjects. As we are a 1:1 school, students get a copy sent to their iPads which they keep, but this could just as easily be printed and stuck into books. I have a separate sheet for my own reflection if I am marking exams, but this sheet is given to students so they can use DIRT/STAR time to act on it. Saves me time writing the same thing over and over again as well! Hope it's useful!

Writing Purposes Revision (WJEC 2017 Spec)

(6)
A revision guide and sample tasks for the writing tasks on both the Unit 2 and Unit 3 WJEC GCSE English Language papers. Hopefully this will be of some use in the run up to the exams. Lots of this is taken from the revision guides and other resources so I take no credit for the ideas. Thanks for stopping by!

What am I? Flashcards for SPaG Revision

Designed to be played in pairs, cards are face down and students take it in turns to challenge each other. An extension would be for one student to say the part of speech and the other to give the defining features. Made for lower end KS3, but other types of noun and verb etc. could be brought in for other year groups. My first resource! Enjoy!EDIT: Apologies for the extra capitals - autocorrect going haywire! Please feel free to adjust each name as needed.

WJEC English Language (New Spec) 2017 Homework Menu

(2)
This is a homework menu designed for the new WJEC English Language specification, though it could work for others as well. The documents mentioned are linked in the Padlet below, but you can substitute these. The menu is my own but lots of the linked documents are taken from others, so I take no credit for these. our school is subscribed to theday.com but any new site would work as a substitute. Thanks for stopping by! https://padlet.com/mrsbgthomaseng/englangrevision

Writing Formats Planner

(3)
A quick resource made to help students plan various writing tasks whilst revising the relevant format. Covers most formats in the new WJEC examination, though some are more differentiated by language rather than form (speeches etc.) Lots of the material is pilfered from various places so I do not take credit for anything original. I am simply compiling anything useful so we can get through this exam series together! Thanks for stopping by!

Macbeth Courtroom SOW Part 1

A SOW developed to be a bit of fun for the end of term whilst introducing the characters and themes in Macbeth Act 1. Lots of the resources have been taken from others on TES and adapted, so I take no credit for these. The assessment is an oracy courtroom style piece where the students decide what crimes the witches, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are guilty of and what evidence proves this. This scheme has been designed for students to utilise 1:1 technology but can be adapted to suit other contexts. Hope it's useful in some way! Part 2 is also up for free. Thanks for stopping by!

Teacher Examination Analysis Sheet

Inspired by the great @teachertoolkit, this sheet is for use after I have marked an exam or a mock paper. This version is designed for WJEC English Language specifically but it could be used in other contexts or adapted. I have another feedback sheet I give to students, and this one is for my own reflection. I have attached a .pdf and a .pptx (this may have some layout issues as the original was designed on Google Slides, but it means the elements are editable). Hope it's useful!

This is a writing activity designed to improve writing resilience with all year groups. I have attached a quick guide as to how I use it, along with some sample tasks. The original Millionaire framework was found on TES so I take no credit for that. Hope it's useful!
