Over 200 Duel Cards (Top Trumps style) to hand out to children in class as rewards and for educational fun.
Children choose a card, complete the calculation and play against another player.
Duel Card playing mat included too.
My class love them and are obsessed with collecting them, I’ve never had such good behaviour management.
Using my times table songs on my YouTube channel @LearningWithMrCole the children learn to sing in multiples and can speed through their tables too.
I give the children in my class between 3 and 5 minutes to complete their times table sheet. Timings are as follows:
Trainee - 5 minutes
Bronze - 5 minutes
Silver - 3 minutes
Gold - 3 minutes
Platinum - 3 minutes
Olympic Champions - 3 minutes
The times tables vary for each level:
Trainee - 2,5,10 (Just multiplication questions)
Bronze - 2,3,4,5,10 (Just multiplication questions)
Silver - 3,4,5,6,11 (Just multiplication questions)
Gold - 7,8,9,12 (Just multiplication questions)
Platinum - Mixture of all times table questions (Multiplication & Division questions)
Olympic Champions - 3 minutes 100 times table questions (Multiplication & Division questions)
Children complete their sheet in their given time. If they complete the sheet I mark it, if it is 100% correct, they move to the next level. If they do not complete the sheet they will not be able to move to the next level. I therefore either do not mark them, or mark them to see where that child is struggling. When they move up, I add colour to their name in the results table and pop the date in so I can track their progress.
Each child has their own laminated name with a badger olympian logo which they can move up the stages.
In this download, you get:
A set of questions for each level.
Editable name logos
The Olympic display (levels and a banner)
Results recording sheet
Olympic Champion Certificate
Add the numbers from the bottom of the pyramid together and work your way up to the top, the numbers get increasingly bigger as you go higher.
Lower ability options included too.
A great challenge for children, especially in year 4/5/6.
A very engaging set of lessons for children to write instructions for How to Annoy your Teacher. From gathering words and phrases to writing a final set of instructions on nice paper. There are also two WAGOLLs (What a good one looks like) included in the files.
My classes have always been engaged with these lessons as they are determined to write the best set of instructions on how to annoy me.
As an extra idea, I sometimes do an extra lesson at the start where the children stick in a copy of some instructions (this could be one of my WAGOLLS) and they highlight and label the features of the text at the beginning of the week.
Write a diary entry based on the novel Nelly the Monster Sitter.

WAGOLLs
Words and phrases
Powerpoint presentation that could be used over two days.
Day 1 - Gather words and phrases
Day 2 - Draft the diary entry
Day 3 - Write up the final diary entry on nice monster paper.
