A scheme of work that results in students writing their own piece of crime fiction.
The scheme explores three different short stories (Lamb to the Slaughter, The Tell Tale Heart and The Landlady) PLEASE NOTE- you will need to source these
Through analysing the writing of others, students draft their own piece of fiction with the help of lessons covering sentence forms, setting, character and irony.
In the opening lessons, students piece together clues from an image and then use objects and receipts to create a character profile. PLEASE NOTE- you will need to collect enough receipts to give one to each student OR photograph one for the PowerPoint that all students can use
A Unit of work roughly comprising of 15 lessons which takes students through the exploration of language and structure in preparation for Language paper 1.
The scheme uses extracts from a range of sources including Game of Thrones, The Hobbit, The Shining and Pennywise.
The first sequence of lessons look at different skills such as identifying tension, analysing language techniques, identifying and evaluating structural techniques and exploring setting.
There is then a shift to examine a whole paper created from an extract from The Hobbit- each lesson looks at a question from the paper and takes students through how to answer the question with activities and model answers.
Finally, there is a walking talking style mock sequence of lessons covering an extract from Pennywise with an optional writing question.
