We use apostrophes to show contraction
We also use apostrophes to show possession. Let’s look at these phrases together and discuss where we would place each apostrophe.

Task
Independently can you colour code the apostrophes in the extract:
Green: Possession
Orange: Contraction
Next, in pairs can you continue from this point in the extract to write a short dialogue between characters, using contractions and possessive apostrophes.

Here is the first lesson from the unit based around the text: James and the Giant Peach.
This lesson is based around introducing the text, predicting what happens within the text, comparing the blurb to our predictions, chapter 1 - studying it then creating a role on the wall about the main character James.
