Upper KS2 Daily Arithmetic – Fluency & Recall

(0)
This Daily Arithmetic resource provides a structured, repeatable routine for Upper KS2 to build speed, accuracy and confidence in key maths skills. Designed for use in a 10-minute daily slot, pupils begin at P3 and work through to P1 at their own pace, focusing on improving accuracy and fluency through repetition rather than comparison. What’s included: 4 days of focused practice on one key skill Day 5 consolidation covering previously taught skills Clear progression from P3 (accessible) to P1 (more challenging) Answer sheets included Consistent layout to reduce cognitive load Skills covered include: Addition and subtraction Inverse operations Short and long multiplication Short and long division This resource has been designed to be low-prep and flexible. Some pupils may remain at P3, while others progress further — the emphasis is on personal improvement over time, not scores or speed alone. This resource can be used as a whole-class daily arithmetic routine or adapted easily for small-group or individual intervention. Classroom routine: In my classroom, this resource is presented as a Formula 1-style challenge to boost engagement. A timer is set for 10 minutes, pupils track their own scores and the focus is on improving accuracy and efficiency each day. Day 5 works well as a written task in books. This resource is designed to cover approximately the first half-term (around 6 weeks) of daily arithmetic. It can be used as a standalone pack or as the first part of a longer sequence of arithmetic routines. Suitable for Year 5 and Year 6.
