I have used these alongside the White Rose Unit as challenges or enhanced provision. I’ve converted some to PDFs but included original WORD docs if you wanted to adapt. some resources are adapted for LAPs Fairly self explanatary how you use them!

a huge bundle of tried and tested resources that I have used with my Year 1 classes. These were created to support lessons taught using the White Rose Scheme of Work - and also NCETM Mastering Number Includes some worksheets that are adapted for different abilities and lots of practical activities for pupils to do as challenges or as part of enhanced provision. They could also be used for intervention for older pupils. I have converted many to PDFs as I have used Sassoon Primary font (which is free to download online).

Paper chains for children to cut and stick - great for practicing fine motor skills. Word and pdf documents: Days of the Week - practise order and writing. Faint so they can trace or a line so that they can copy the word themselves. Different variations including one with space where children could draw a picture of something that they do on that day. Months of the year - as above Numbers to 10 - practise writing numeral and word. Different variations including one where children can draw that number of objects or that number of counters onto a tens frame. Ordinal numbers to 6th - as above. Can colour the nth circle.

I used this with year 1 but it would also work with EYFS or Year 2 Includes planning and all resources for the unit. Session 1: naming, describing and tasting. Session 2: finding out about a balanced diet and eating 5 portions of fruit and vegetables Session 3: focused practical tasks - preparing a range a fruits. Washing, hygiene, peeling, cutting safely. Session 4 : Designing a layered fruit salad Session 5: Making their fruit salad Session 6: Evaluation I bought some clear plastic cups to make their layered salads. Also includes knowledge organiser and additional challenges.

Free Standing Structures - Unit Plan Whole unit of work for Year 1 but could be adapted upwards. Linked to work in english on Traction Man Build a piece of furniture for Traction Man’s house. Begin by looking at different items of furniture, naming and describing. Linking to work in science on materials. focused practical task to build a chair for traction man - using different construction materials. Then, they design and make their own piece of furniture. SEN pupils made a chair as they already had the skills for this. HAPs were encouraged to be more creative. One pupil made a bunk bed, another made a wardrobe with opening doors. Everything that you need to teach this fun unit!

Great for challenge, provision enhancement or intervention for fine motor skills or handwriting. Child throws either 1-6 or 1-10 dice. Includes 3 different pattern sheet to practise different pre-writing patterns to develop fine motor skills. When I have done this, I have provided a variety of mark making tools for children to select how they will copy each patter, Includes lots of different animals split into sections. Child chooses a section and copies the pattern using their chosen mark making tool. Lots of variety, lots of fun, self adapting. Can enlarge pictures to A3 for children who find it difficult to work in smaller spaces.

ppt with spirals from the natural and man made world to lead onto pupils creating their own spiral pictures using a range of media. To create snail pictures Pictures of shells for pupils to sketch. Nice to have some real shells as well for pupils to handle and observe the spiral patterns.

This was used for Year 1 but could be adapted upwards Includes planning, ppts and resources Pupils begin by looking at how artists are inspired by flora and fauna. Then, they work on their observational drawings of insects - using photographs and illustrations. We also used large plastic minibeasts. Could link in with outdoor/Forest School work and go minibeast hunting! Pupils then looked at the work of Eric Carle and developed their own fantastic minibeast collages, using painted pieces of paper. Pupils mainly worked in their sketch books, using a range of media and I just printed out LOs to go at the top of each page.

This resource has been updated for 2018. All new files have the prefix ‘2018’. I have not changed a great deal because the unit worked well last year. Though I have updated some of the note and coin images to make them clearer. The plan has been updated to include possible misconceptions and statements from the 2018/19 SATs TAF. I’ve also done a WILF with the small steps to track progress through the unit and for the children to self assess. Both the new and old files are available. This upload contains all resources needed to teach this unit. I have used the small steps tracker to plan the lessons. This plan includes 10 detailed lessons and 2 assess/review/intervention sessions. The flipcharts have been created using ActivInspire. A version can be downloaded free to view flipcharts or you may be able to import it into your whiteboard software. If not, I have included the flipchart as a pdf. The flipcharts follow the structure of the plans and contain 67 slides with visual material taken from the White Rose examples and lots of questions. The worksheets are very visual and easy to follow. Most lessons have differentiated activities and a greater depth challenge activity for pupils who complete the work. The worksheets and the flipcharts are created with our school cursive font. Again, I have included these as a word document so that you can change the font if you wish, and also as a PDF if preferred. I am a Year 2 teacher and maths co-ordinator with many years experience of teaching EYFS up to Year 5. I currently work part time so have the time to create detailed plans but also need to ensure that my plans are detailed so that my job-share is able to follow them. If I do notice any errors or think of any improvements, I will change or add these to the file as I work through them.

I have attached my updated files from 2019. I have made a few changes to this unit. In particular we spent a little longer at the beginning on practical work, sharing practically using large versions of the laminated bar model mats (included). We then moved onto sharing dots. All of the new files have a 2019 prefix. (Old files are still there). I have tried to include everything as a PDF too. The unit now includes 8 lessons with all resources. This plan includes 6 detailed lessons based on the small steps from the White Rose Maths Planning guidance. The resource pack includes everything needed to teach this block. The worksheets are differentiated with additional structure for the LAPs. All resources have been made using Word so are adaptable to suit your own class. I have used our school cursive font which you may wish to change. I have also included them as PDFs if you want to use them as they are. The file includes a flipchart with 41 slides to teach the 6 lessons with lesson objectives, key questions, prompts and visual images. This has been created using ActiveInspire. If you don't have this, you should be able to convert this via your own whiteboard software or by downloading the free viewing software. If you still experience problems, I have included it as a PDF so you can still use it with your class. Update: I have just added the sheet that I will use to baseline and assess their multiplication and division targets. I am also involved in a mastery research project and needed to think of a challenge linked to our work where the children could demonstrate their reasoning skills. I have adapted a challenge from ncetm that I could differentiate as it also needed to be suitable to year 3 pupils. I have included this too as it might be useful for a starter or extension task.

I have added the updated version of my planning, flipchart and worksheets with a few amendments. These new files have a 2019 prefix. I have also included a WILF that shows the small steps, with targets for the unit and a mini assessment for the children to complete at the end of the unit. I have tried to include everything as a PDF too. This is my next unit of work. It contains planning for 10 lessons with the structure and activities taken from the White Rose Maths small steps. I have kept the planning quite simple - moving towards an intro/let’s learn… let’s talk about it… Let’s do it and Let’s use it - approach. I have also added a misconceptions section - taken from the GLOW maths hub planning as I felt that was missing from previous plans. I have included suggestions for continuous provision opportunities. There are 50 flipchart slides to guide you through each lesson with lots of talking and problem solving/greater depth opportunities. The flipcharts have been created using ActivInspire. A viewer version is available to download free at: https://support.prometheanworld.com/download/activinspire.html You maybe able to import/convert it though your software or failing that I have also included it as a PDF so you can use it that way. The workseets are added as 2 separate files as some are portrait orientation and some are landscape. Most are differentiated 2 or 3 ways. Activities for all 10 lessons are included, along with greater depth/challenge activities for most lessons. The worksheets are visual and structured making good use of different arrays and scaffolding/modelling the correct vocabulary and ways of recording. The worksheets have been made using our school cursive script. I have included all the worksheets as WORD documents if you would like to change the font but have also included them as PDFs if you want to print/use them as they are. If I find anything else of use to support the teaching of this unit, I will add it to this upload.

This is a whole unit of work following the White Rose Mastery small steps planning for Spring block 3 which is Properties of Shape. The unit comprises of 12 fully planned lessons. The plan is detailed, (as I plan for my job share too!) and will guide you through the unit, along with the flipchart. This has been created using ActivInspire. I have also included all of the worksheets and activities. Most are differentiated 2 or 3 ways and most lessons also have a greater depth challenge for the children to complete as an extension. Each worksheet/activity is clearly labeled with the lesson number it is for and which ability group it is intended for. Some of the worksheets are in a separate document because they are landscape orientation.

This unit has been planned using the White Rose Maths Hub Small steps planning scheme. There are 6 days worth of lessons and resources. If you are still having difficulty viewing this file, I have included it as a PDF. It is very detailed and comprehensive with 45 slides covering the 6 lessons.

These resources were created to accompany an Access Art unit on 3D sculpture - birds Includes a resource with loads of bird pictures for pupils to look at closely and sketch, including close ups of feathers, beaks, wings etc The ppt talks pupils through the steps of creating their own 3D birds. I gave each child an cardboard oval. They worked across 2 or 3 sessions, to create two wings, a tail and a beak using techniques such as crumpling, folding, curling and collage and then we used 2 paperclips for the legs and sat them on logs to make a class sculpture. The resource includes photographs of the birds that my class made and the evaluation for pupils to complete at the end of the unit. I did this with Year 1 but it could be easily adapted for older children.

4.9.18 - I have updated these files based on my teaching experience last year and the new 2018/9 TAF. I have added a little more detail and adapted some of the resources. There are 10 lessons in total with all the resources provided. I have chosen not to include the ‘partitioning in different ways’ as I found that my children struggled with this at this point in the year. I have included PDF versions of each file if you are having problems with the word documents and the flipchart is also included as a PDF. My intention is to go through all my units and update them in this way. If you have already purchased this resource, you will be able to download the new resources for no additional charge. This is the planning that I have produced for my own class. I have used the White Rose Small Steps tracker to guide the planning. There are 12 fully planned lessons in total with 3 planned sessions for review/assessment/intervention I have produced resources to accompany each. All of the resources are included. The worksheets are very visual and are differentiated across 2, 3 or 4 ways - clearly labelled on the top of each worksheet. We use a cursive font at our school and the terms ‘WALT’ and ‘WILF’ but these are word documents so this could be easily changed once you have downloaded the resources. Many lessons have extension/greater depth activities which are also differentiated. I have also included my flipchart. Produced with ActivInspire but again I believe that it can be converted for Smartboard or powerpoint. The flipchart contains 47 pages for the 12 lessons. Lots of visual images and questions. This has taken a great deal of time to produce so I would welcome feedback. We started back on 24/9/17 so we are already well into this unit. It is going well, though I am thankful for the planned opportunities for review/assessment and intervention!

Maths lesson resource pack focusing on breaking down the problem solving process. Suitable for years 4-6. Incudes detailed lesson plan with suggestions how to use the powerpoint and the activity sheets. The word problems are grouped by operation with a separate set of multi step problems. They are also grouped by difficulty with questions for LAPs, APs and HAPs. I copied these questions on different coloured paper and cut them up and children selected one at a time, using the RUCSAC method to solve them. There is also a WILF grid or grid for self assessment using the lesson success criteria.

Free Standing Structures Complete DT Unit Used for Year 1 but easily adapted for Year 2 Linked to English work on traditional tales to build a bridge for the Billy Goat’s Gruff to cross the river. Includes planning, knowledge organiser, resources for 6 lessons, including pictures of actual bridges made by children at different stages.

UPDATED OCTOBER 2018 planning includes images from NCETM unit on addition and subtraction and has been updated to reflect how things went last year. All new planning and resources has a ‘2018’ prefix, though I have kept all the older planning in the folder too. First 2 (out of 5) weeks planning for Year 2 Maths - Autumn Term - Block 2 (Addition and Subtraction), following the new White Rose small steps planning guidance. Using models and images from these plans. There are 10 lessons (including 2 assess/review sessions), which I have found really helpful to give time to go assess children’s learning or provide intervention for children with gaps before moving on. I have also included my flipchart - created using Active Inspire - though I believe this can be converted to a ppt or smartboard if preferred. The presentation has 40 slides to help teach these lessons. I have also included the resources/worksheets mentioned in the planning. There are 19 sheets in total. Some lessons are differentiated 2 or 3 ways and many lessons have a greater depth activity for children to attempt at the end. The worksheets are made using our school cursive script - though these are included as word documents should you wish to change it - or as a pdf if you want to use them as they are. I am in the process of completing the final 3 weeks of the block and will add this to the files when finished. *I’ve made a few small changes to the worksheets for day 3. My class found this quite difficult and I think getting them to put the numbers onto a part-part whole diagram first would help them to understand the inverse and how they could check the calculation better. * I’ve added the baseline assessment for the targets. I gave pupils roughly 10 mins (with access to number lines/bead strings etc), to complete as much as they could and used this to make my baseline assessment of recall and derive + and - facts to set their targets. I intend to re-do the test in 2-3 weeks to check their progress and again 2-3 weeks after that. *I’ve saved the flipchart as a pdf if you are struggling to view it.

Planning and resources for a DT unit on boats as a ‘free standing structure’ This unit is aimed at KS1 but there is lots of scope to adapt slightly for KS2. The unit begins by looking at parts of boats and types of boats and then moves to FPTs on floating and sinking, hull shape, number of masts and sails and also shape sail - before children design and make their boats. The unit culminates in a regatta. This has worked really well in previous years and the children have got a lot out of it. Note: in addition to this I used the boat pack on Twinkl with all the pictures of different boats but could not include this.

I have also included some sheets that could be laminated for the children to make tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams using cubes and counters. This unit of work follow the White Rose Maths small steps guidance for statistics to be taught as block 2 in the Spring Term. It covers 7 sessions. The plan is detailed and hopefully easy to follow. For each lesson their are slides on the flipchart which has been created using Activ Primary. you should be able to import and convert in your own whiteboard software but I will also include it as a PDF to use as it is. It has 29 slides to guide you through the key questions and learning for each lesson. There are worksheets to accompany each lesson, many of which as differentiated. Most lessons also have greater depth challenge activities. The worksheets have our cursive font but I have included them as PDF and a word document if you did want to change the font.
