Introduction to youth subcultures

(1)
A powerpoint introduction to youth subcultures. Probably best broken into shorter chunks and interspersed with activities. It incudes a summary of key concepts, key theories and a brief summary of Hodkinson's study of Goths with an activity. Also links to some useful Youtube clips. This is mainly aimed at OCR A/AS Level Unit 1 but might be useful for teaching Culture and Identity or Crime and Deviance.

Who wants to be a millionaire for Sociology

(2)
Modelled on the popular TV quiz 'Who wants to be a millionaire' this game works on power point and has progressively harder questions going up to the million pound question. The questions in the game are on sociology of education but could be replaced with different questions if you want to use it for a different topic. My students love doing this as a revision activity.

Class, gender, ethnicity and youth

This powerpoint really has enough material for 3 lessons. The slides include an outline of key ideas together with activities and links to relevant Youtube clips. Some of the activities link to material in the Hodder OCR A Level Sociology textbook. The material is mainly focused on the OCR option on Youth Subcultures.
