Advanced lesson to learn how to talk about our favourite colour, asking the question ‘Quelle est ta couleur préférée ?’ and answering it saying ‘Ma couleur préférée c’est….’. This lesson gives children the chance to focus on speaking skills and build up their confidence by having a short conversation. *This lesson can be used independently or as the 3rd of a bundle of 3 lessons * 4 files are included: Powerpoint lesson: the objective is to learn through repetition with a focus on French phonics and pronunciation, thanks to interactive listening/speaking activities facilitated by a voice over, and speaking games to support memorisation. This lesson also includes ‘thinking slides’ that emphasize some details specific to French language such as its grammar or structure. In this lesson, we are focusing on possessive adjectives and word order. Set of three lessons whose aim is to implement progression in learning using the topic of colours. all lessons include a voice over to model the pronunciation, they are therefore specially designed for non specialist teachers. About 6 hours of teaching in total that include: 3 powerpoint lessons, 10 adapted worksheets, printable flashcards, end of unit self assessment, knowledge organiser with key vocabulary and grammar, a poster with key questions to display Each lesson relies on a Powerpoint resource as the main teaching tool, complemented by printable flashcards and adapted worksheets. Children learn through a variety of interactive and fun listening and speaking activities that support a good pronunciation modeled by a voice over, as well as memorisation. Adapted worksheets complement each lesson. They aim at practicing reading and writing skills to support and assess the learning. The lesson plan is totally embedded within each Powerpoint resource, making the lesson easy to deliver. Lesson 1: les couleurs / Colours. Objective: learning French colours with a focus on French phonics and pronunciation modeled by a native voice over. Lesson 2: likes and dislikes / using conjunctions Objective: building up on previous learning by introducing opinions in French. Key vocabulary: J’aime le bleu (like blue) / Je n’aime pas le rouge** (I don’t like red) Extension: introducing the conjunctions et (and) and mais (but) to understand longer sentences. Eg: j’aime le bleu et le rouge / J’aime le bleu mais je n’aime pas le rouge Lesson 3: ma couleur préférée / my favourite colour Objective: setting the foundation of a conversation in French using some structured language, by asking Quelle est ta couleur préférée ? and answering it with Ma couleur préférée, c’est (le bleu) . Focus on possessive adjectives and word order. This lesson is building up progressively to ensure children’s confidence in engaging in a dialogue.
