FULL DESCRIPTION The Snowman Who Followed the Star is a warm, funny and accessible Year 1 / KS1 Christmas production adapted from the original children’s picture book of the same name and built around the traditional Nativity story. A curious snowman spots a brilliant star and decides to follow it towards Bethlehem. Along the way he meets a hungry donkey, a cold traveller, sleepy shepherds, shining angels and wise men following the same light. Through small acts of kindness and sacrifice, he gradually understands why everyone is travelling towards Bethlehem and what Christmas is really about. The production has been designed specifically with young performers in mind. Speaking parts are short, narrators carry the story, staging is deliberately simple and every song is written for full-group singing rather than child soloists. Pupils learn about the Sun as a powerful light source and ways to protect their eyes. 5. The Shape Behind the Shape How are shadows formed? Pupils investigate opaque, translucent and transparent materials and explore how blocking light produces shadows. 6. The Giant on the Wall What changes the size of a shadow? Pupils investigate the positions of the light source, object and screen before using their findings to solve the final story problem.
