Archery Through Time KS2
This KS2 archery resource pack includes a PowerPoint and accompanying worksheets designed to support pupils’ understanding of how bows and arrows have changed over time. It is ideal for use following an archery session or as part of a history or cross-curricular topic.
The resource explores the development of archery equipment from early wooden bows to modern designs. Pupils are encouraged to think about how materials, design and purpose have changed over time.
Included in this pack:
• A PowerPoint presentation: Bows Through Time
• A PDF version of the PowerPoint
• An ordering task worksheet (chronological understanding)
• A true or false worksheet (retrieval and understanding)
The activities are designed for Key Stage 2 pupils and focus on key curriculum skills including sequencing, reading for information, and understanding how historical objects change over time.
How I use this resource:
This works well as a follow-up lesson after an archery experience. Pupils first explore the PowerPoint, then complete the ordering activity to develop chronological understanding, followed by the true/false task to check comprehension.
This resource supports:
• History (chronology and change over time)
• Reading (retrieval and understanding)
• Cross-curricular learning linked to PE and outdoor education
This resource has been developed alongside real archery sessions delivered by Grey Goose Archery & Axes, helping pupils connect classroom learning with practical experience.
