English DiaryWriting Lesson Objective identify diary features

(0)
A PowerPoint for a KS2 English lesson for diary writing with a plural warm up. I have used it for year 3 and 4 English. The objective of the lesson is to understand and identify the features of a diary. Chn in the lesson would then select a diary text and create a key of diary features. This PowerPoint I created is to introduce diary writing unit. You could easily adapt this lesson to your current topic. After this lesson the rest of the unit was linked to writing a diary entry as Mulan as our topic was China. This PowerPoint is a generic one. I created the PowerPoint but used the Diary of a Wimpy Kid as an example. I had other example s of diary texts too for chn to use for their activities. There are website links on the PowerPoint to enhance the lesson and reinforce skills.

Science States of Matter - Snow Experiment KS1 and 2

This is a PowerPoint that I created for a fun lesson that you could use as a' one off' or within a States of Matter/Weather Unit. I taught this lesson to year 3 and 4 but I think you could simplify it or extend for KS1 or upper KS2. I used it as a fun but very educational lesson before Christmas. You need Insta-Snow for this experiment (which is not expensive and I only used half a tub for a class and they all took some home to continue with their learning).. It is a great way to teach how states of matter can change and reverse! The lesson is really practical and there are lots of opportunities to talk Science and you could write up an experiment throughout the lesson. I added YouTube clips and chn filmed their experiment so there was computing links to the lesson. The chn loved taking their snow home. On the last slide I made a tag to go with their snow. Chn continued their learning from home by freezing it, adding food colouring or salt. I hope you enjoy this lesson as much as I did! :0)
