These are my set of 7 guided reading lessons based on Michael Morpurgo's 'The Sleeping Sword' for Level 4+ readers. I planned them for a high ability Year 4 reading group.I have referred to APP targets. I get children to write the answers to the highlighted questions in their books as written evidence.

This comprises a 1 week plan for non-chron writing along with the resources to go with the plan. The resources are mostly adaptations of fantastic creations by other people which I found while trawling the web and from books I own like the fabulous Pie Corbett's Talk for Writing. I hope no-one minds me compiling their work in this little package and am very grateful to all for sharing. I have also saved week 2 of my planning on this site.

I used print-outs of these for children who were researching and note-taking in preparation for writing non-chronological reports about inventors. I have saved the lesson plans for this 2 week block on this site as Non-chronological reports about inventors.

This is week 2 planning and resources. Week 1 is also saved on this site. Again, the resources are extensively borrowed and adapted from the work of other fabulous people who have been willing to share their ideas and from Pie Corbett's brilliant book Talk for Writing.
