Students have to identify what skills are necessary for which exam questions and with the short answer questions in the lesson, they also identify and reflect on which skills they used to answer it. This is a creative writing series of three hour long lessons, focussing on descriptive writing. These lessons can be used to gauge students’ abilities in order to help determine areas of focus for further revision. They focus on showing rather than telling, using similes and metaphors, and breaking up an image when writing. The lesson plan breaks down areas for extension, differentiation, discussing British values, and also links in to the themes of the week which at the time was drugs or consent.
