This single editable PPT aimed at KS3 French students revises and teaches a lot of vocabulary for different family members. It teaches the verb s’appeler and gives students practice in talking about what they and other family members are called. It excludes ‘nous’ and ‘vous’ but these could easily be added in. It also includes reference to mon/ma/mes and includes a summary reference sheet which could be printed. As well as practice translations, there is a dice talking activity, trapdoor activity and a noughts and crosses game. Answers are given for the translations apart from the summary reference sheet translations which could be set as homework and follows the same format. This is a ready to teach first lesson on Family for your Lower KS3 students who have met some of the family members before. This PowerPoint resource introduces a selection of the countries taking part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and is suitable for both KS2 and KS3 learners of French. Students first learn many of the European countries before moving on to countries from other continents. The resource includes a variety of engaging activities and games to practise and reinforce vocabulary, including selection activities, guessing games, What’s Missing? and noughts and crosses. The presentation also covers the use of en, au and aux with countries and provides opportunities to practise speaking about where you live, where you are going, which team you support and who you think will win the World Cup. Interactive speaking activities include Mastermind, Trapdoor and dice games. The resource is highly adaptable. It can also be used to revise colours through national flags, while the noughts and crosses activities can be differentiated for a range of ability levels, from simply naming countries to producing full sentences. This game is ideal for revising vocabulary at the end of a topic or at the end of the year. The questions included with the game are aimed at KS3 French, but the game template could be used with any level — and indeed, any language. You can easily adapt the example questions or create your own to meet your students’ needs. Model answers are provided for the example questions included in the PowerPoint. The questions included will involve students listening to the teacher reading French to translate into English, or to answer a question in French or alternatively they may be asked to translate English into French. What is the Unfair Game? Students answer questions to earn points for their team — but the number of points (positive or negative) is hidden until revealed. Even correct answers can result in a loss of points, adding an element of unpredictability and fun.
