In this lesson plan, students have the opportunity to come face-to-face with a gorilla in the Congo! Start by setting the scene for the lesson; students are on a school trip to the Congo, where they will be learning how to track Gorillas. On their journey, they come across a local village, where they meet the locals and attend a lesson in the local school. On their way back from the village, students have their first ever gorilla encounter! This scene will usually provoke a shocked reaction and is a great way for getting students to think creatively about their experience. After this, students need to write a postcard home to describe what they have seen on their school trip!
The lesson plan contains the following content:
1. Lesson plan
2. Worksheet to be completed during the expedition
3. Postcard template with lines
4. Postcard template without lines
