Colour print on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each time. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a small group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring writing support.
Words are printed in faint grey in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this faint type, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is in a different colour to help identify the board it is from. Train the children to replace the words to these starting positions and to wipe boards before putting them back. Good quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens will help with this!

Lesson 3: Mise-en-Scène: Lighting
Develops students’ understanding of mise-en-scène through lighting terminology, including low-key lighting, high-key lighting, natural lighting, directional lighting and silhouette. Students apply this to film extract analysis.
Lesson 4: Mise-en-Scène: Acting
Continues the CLAMPS/media language sequence by focusing on acting, including facial expression, gesture, body language, eye contact and movement. Students apply acting terminology to extract analysis and exam-style writing.
Lesson 5: Todorov Narrative Theory
Introduces narrative structure through Todorov’s five stages: equilibrium, disruption, recognition, attempt to repair and new equilibrium. Students apply the theory to music video and film examples.
Lesson 6: Propp’s Character Theory
Builds on narrative by introducing Proppian character roles, including hero, villain, donor, dispatcher, helper, princess/prize and false hero. Students apply character theory to crime drama examples including Vigil and The Avengers.

A short workbook which has a series of challenges which students can try to tackle independently after learning basic programming techniques. For each challenge, students are expected to draw a flowchart, write some pseudocode and then attempt to code it themselves.
We print the booklets out and get students to print/cut/glue their code in, but they could complete them electronically.
