Revision of the Perfect Tense through guided writing, presentations and gap fill. Scaffolding for independent writing on holidays.

A series of lessons that I conducted with Year 6 G&T students and an accompanying booklet. Some fairly complex vocabulary and structures that ocuses a lot on choral repetition and games. Objective was to stretch students to extend and challenge students to extend their spoken French with complicated sentences, but still using a number of cognates. Could equally be used for Year 7 pupils with the same provisos. In both cases students were divided into teams and awarded points throughout the lesson for correct answers. Progress was mapped on the last slide.

A PowerPoint I put together for students who tried to decorate their text types but ended up writing things like 'save&', &';send', &'add a comment&'; in English! Does not feature all the text types, but gives a few ideas for a more creative layout.

PowerPoint introducing the IB Individual Oral with a couple of introductory exercises. NOTE: These images are not necessarily the right type of pictures for the IB exam but are good for promoting fluency and getting students to begin to describe images and think about how they link to the Options.

A PowerPoint I used with Year 7 to increase their knowledge of Francophone countries, to get them talking, and to understand the difference between 'en' and 'au' in context.

Used as a revision sheet on how to write a formal letter with my IB group. Finishes with past paper question from Standard paper in May 2006.

Quick quiz for end of term. Christmas song lyrics translated into French. Students need to guess the song and the artist. Bonus point for guessing the next line/translating it into French.

Translations into and from French (in the style of the A2 exam) focused on the film La Haine

Revision of the different buildings you can live in and revision of agreement and placement of adjectives. Sentences for the students to translate (I do this as a race - they write down their translation and then run up to front and show it to me). Then a writing guide for a paragraph at the end.

A PP I used with my IB students to help them get their heads around the rationale for the Written Assignment (Standard). Key phrases, information on the different options, and the names of the different text types in French so they know how to say in their rationale. Finishes with 3 examples of WAs to give them practice writing.

This relates to the IB core topics of Global Issues. The worksheet involves a grammar gap fill and then a number of potential questions which could allow it to be used as the stimulus for an interactive oral. Now with additional PowerPoint which shows the Standard Markscheme.

List of vocabulary that my students compiled in preparation for their individual oral, along with two potential IB photos that we used as practice pieces. Students came up with captions for each other and then timed themselves describing the picture.

Biography of Eugene Ionesco to tie in with literature topic for IB Higher students. Includes a description of how to form the past historic and exercises. Also used to teach the elements of a biography.

PowerPoint activity that helps students to learn the imperative through French recipes.

PowerPoint discussing school rules and talking about school uniform - key phrases and a couple of reading texts.

A sequence of lessons on Madagascar - trying to get the students interested in the culture of some Francophone countries. A recipe for them to order and some Malagasy fairytales with questions that we completed as a Q&A. The students loved the recipe so much I took them to the food tech room and they cooked it (it's an acquired taste though!). Hope you find it useful!

Three simple activities to help students prepare for their orals. 1. Students have a pack of cards, and test themselves on the phrase that corresponds with the card they turn over 2. Using some of Doisneau's photos they can practice describing the photo - with codes to help them structure their presentation 3. Students have a pack of cards and roll a die and race their partner to conjugate the verb first
