'The Outsider' by Albert Camus Resources

Here are several PPTs all linked to teaching ‘The Outsider’ by Albert Camus at IB level. However, these could be adapted for A-Level or other groups. Links to context, as well as close text study. For clarity, the PPTs do contain another text as an IB resource so should you require exclusively ‘The Outsider’ then this resources may not be for you.

I used this with my C/D borderline students to push them to use higher order punctuation in their writing. It worked incredibly well.

Satire: Simpsons Focus

This is a PPT I created on the topic of Satire. It goes into enough depth for a top set, which can easily be deducted for lower sets. A fun lesson to teach.

The PPT and resources create a beautiful lesson to show students how to go from a level 5 to a 6 in English, with regards to reading. I chose an extract from a book that the class were reading. You may find you need to adapt it for your particular group.

AQA Paper One Creative Reading and Writing Exam: Revision Session

(1)
This session has been designed to use in a two hour revision session. I have designed it so that you can spend 30 minutes on each section of the exam (Q1 and Q2 combined). The text is 'The Invisible Man' by H.G Wells. It includes marked examples and group resources. There is also a take-away exam paper at the end of the revision material to test students knowledge of the day.

I use these resources with my low ability Year 7 class. It helps to keep students on task and achieve at their own pace. The colour coding and regular 'check-ins' helps me to know where students are and LSAs to support on different tasks.

The idea behind this SOW is that it is an 'in-depth introduction' to the first act of Macbeth. The full SOW is here, along with colourful and interesting PPTs for each lesson, some with videos embeddedThe activities are ranging in challenge, with suitable starters and plenaries for all lessons. Lessons are also structured around SOLO Taxonomy: building knowledge throughout the lessons.

I created this series of PPTs to use with a low-ability KS4 group. They had had a lot of significant upheaval in their learning and I needed to get a CA question done quickly, hence the limited focus on particular scenes. Enjoy!
