The lesson explores the poem from the new GCSE English Literature Anthology from the Power and Conflict section. There are several tasks that allow you to guide learners through the poem - aimed mainly at the more able in this particular case but easily adaptable. A PPT with images based on the poem can be used to spark discussion before analysing for language and structural features. There is a non-fiction based writing task as well as a Paper 2 Question 4 (comparison of poem to experiences of a soldier at war) Resources attached are to support the teaching of the lesson.
