An activity for students to complete after reading Romeo and Juliet. Each group is given a different statement to evaluate, using evidence from the text to support their viewpoints. Groups rotate to share ideas across the whole class. Good for building textual knowledge, evaluative skills and oracy.

A list of descriptive adjectives for An Inspector Calls to characterise each of the Birlings, Gerald Croft, the Inspector and Eva Smith. Students can use these to support their writing about the text and can learn the vocabulary to help them write about the play in examinations. The sheet could also be used as a basis for revision, with students being asked to find textual references to support each epithet. Working in groups, they could present the case for a particular description and respond to challenges from other group members.
