This is a bundle of 34 lessons to teach OCR Y212: American Revolution 1740-1796. Each lesson has a powerpoint with a retrieval task (called KITs- Knowledge and Information Tests at the start of the lesson) engaging video clips, comprehension activities, ranking tasks for group discussion and a end of lesson write up with sentence starters. These are tried and tested resources that get good results. These lessons are designed to be used with the Access to History ‘The American Revolution and the birth of the USA 1740-1801’ (Alan Farmer) textbook. Which side seemed likely to win in 1776? Why did Britain not win the war in 1776-7? How much impact did foreign intervention have on the American Revolutionary War? How did the Americans win the war? Enquiry 4: How serious were the problems facing the Early Republic from 1783 to 1796? How strong were the articles of Confederation? How well did the Confederation deal with the problems of the 1780s? Why did many Americans want to strengthen the national government? What were the aims of the founding fathers and how successful were they in realising them? To what extent was the Constitution a bundle of compromises? Why did the Federalists defeat the anti-federalists? How important was Washington? How successful was Aliexander Hamilton? What was USA’s biggest problem in foreign and western policy?
