In this video the children explore Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Firstly the students are introduced to the characters and their accompanying musical instruments. Then, they get the chance to test their knowledge by having a go at the attached worksheets. Finally, the children explore the music of Prokofiev further, by attaching their own character to each piece of music. Also there is an opportunity for the students to create their own short piece of motif music.

This video introduces the children to Dynamics. We explore a quiet woodland area and then a noisy jungle. From a timid mouse to a ferocious dinosaur! The children will learn how to use simple music theory. On the worksheets attached the children have to match the sound to the dynamic. Finally, we listen to 3 classical pieces of music and try to fit the correct dynamic to each section.

The children explore the Orchestra, in this fun, interactive music lesson. The students are introduced to the four families of the Orchestra. The Strings, The Woodwinds, The Brass and the Percussion. They hear instruments from each section. The students then take part in a cut and stick exercise, where they have to stick the correct instrument into it’s matching orchestral family.

This video delivers a full lesson on Tempo that can be used for a large range of age groups. There is something for children from KS1 all the way up to KS3. We explore Italian, musical phrases such as Adagio and Lento. Using both classical and modern pop music an examples. The children then try to work out Tempos of music, using BPM on an app or browser.
