The first text is a riposte by Canada to Russia for its aggressions in Ukraine and students have found it extremely inspiring to analyse and assists students in understanding pragmatics and self-representation. The second text is a speech declaring the Crimean War.
This lesson introduces students to the concept of the Canon and allows them to think which authors they already know that are canonical and why that might be.
There is also a short reading potential reading list for students to research that covers texts which are useful for aesthetics and for narratology.
