AQA A GCSE Theme B Religion and Life: Assessment and revision

(2)
This is the revision, review and assessment lesson for Theme B: Religion and Life. I have chosen to ask pupils to revise and prepare for a 48 mark assessment rather than just a 24 mark one. My rationale for this is to give the pupils a chance to revise content from last year and to ensure they are keeping on topic of all key words. Attached in the ppt is: Two revision mind maps with key words included Two 24 mark assessments based on exemplar papers and questions provided from the exam board.

AQA A GCSE Christianity: Practices revision, assessment and review lessons

(2)
This PowerPoint contains the slides and resources for a summative revision lesson on the whole practices unit. It consists of a revision mind map/topic checklist (with a success criteria for how to complete correctly) and an exam technique memory sheet (for 1,2,4,5 and 12 mark questions). The idea is that students populate these documents using their books or text books if required. I have then included an adapted 'front cover' for the assessment which has been based on the model provided by AQA. The actual assessment I aim to use is the exemplar located on the AQA website.

What is Eid-Ul-Fitr and how do Muslims celebrate it?

(2)
This resource was designed to last 2x50 minute lessons and to be used as part of an 'Integrated Humanities' scheme of work on festivals and celebrations. This would be a more than welcome addition to any KS3 SOW on Islam. All tasks are differentiated, the lessons are fully resourced and have been planned to a high standard. The lessons have furthermore been planned for specialists and non-specialists alike so they are simplistic to deliver. The first lesson involves some reading and comprehension tasks. The 2 pieces of reading for these tasks are from the True tube website and can be found through the following link: https://www.truetube.co.uk/lesson-plan/ramadan There is one article on Ramadan and one on The Night of Power. This lesson enables students to be able to access the follow up lesson on Eid-Ul-Fitr. Below are the learning outcomes for both of these lessons: Good To be able to describe what Ramadan is and why Muslims celebrate Eid at the end of it. To be able to describe how Eid is celebrated by different Muslims. Better To be able to explain why Ramadan and Eid are important periods of time for Muslims around the world. Consider why Muslims celebrate in the ways that they do and some of the difficulties with these celebrations. Best To explain the notions of Jihad, 5 pillars, Muhammad, Qur’an, prayer and charity and how they link to Ramadan. Consider how the celebrations make Muslims feel and why certain parts of the celebrations are more important than others. If you use the lesson I would be really grateful if you could leave a quick review.
