This activity was set up around my room so that various groups of pupils could sit and have a go at finding out information for themselves about earthquakes. I have used this with a fairly low ability group so you may want to adapt to strectch your higher groups. Each activity is numbered and has instructions so you should be able to work it out, but please ask if it is too confusing

This booklet has been useful for the pupils to get settled for a lesson as they always know what they should be doing. The booklets can be laid out at the beginning of every lesson and pupils should make a start. This pack has several resources that can be used together, or independently, to open pupils minds to volcanoes. It begins by providing pupils with images and diagrams as stimulus for discussion and goes on to activities to consolidate pupils learning I have used it in a natural hazards/tectonic plates topic with year 8 and 9 It also has a contents page so that you can check you have downloaded everything, and that same document also has some pupils friendly instructions on it

The Jelly baby game uses a card sort format and a family of jelly babies to display to pupils the reasons for population growth and decline. My KS3 pupils love it! This is not my invention, but thought it might be useful as its the kind of things that passes through many hands but you cant always find it when you want it!

I have included a writing frame that I used to help pupils organise their thoughts about the activity and their findings. There is a differentiated mystery and writing frame for your lower sets.
