Literacy, Mathematics and weekly planning examples for Reception. The content has been created for Autumn Term 1 Week 7.

Now that there is a bigger emphasis on British Values I have created a medium plan that covers rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance. Although we embed British Values into daily teaching and learning at school, I thought a weekly session focusing on British Values would be a good start for my new Reception class.

A factory themed maths activity that requires the children to double and halve an amount.

I have created satpin differentiated activity sheets and a single activity sheet for each of the following sounds, g o c k. I have also created a Bingo game for ee and ai. All /s/ /a/ /t/ /p/ /i/ /n/ /g/ /o/ /c/ /k/ /ee/ and /ai/ activity sheets are in cursive formation in PDF format. I have also added other phonics homework that I have created - not all PDF, but editable, so you can amend the homework to suit your class.

Resources that I have designed for my Reception class. All the resources link to the Material World topic. I have placed one item on here that compliments the waterproof coat activity. The resource named 'Letters' is the only item that is not my work, all other resources I have created myself.

I have put together a document that allows me to track my pupils progress over the academic year. It includes the 22-36, 30-50, 30-60+ months, ELG and Exceeding descriptors.

a-z lower case cursive formation handwriting practice. Each sheet compromises an outline of the letter, dotted letter with number aid and main letter with a section dotted line for the adult or child to practise freehand. I’d recommend laminating the sheets so they can become handwriting boards. Model to the learner how to use the handwriting board with a whiteboard pen. Then, allow the learner to practise. Model back to the learner until mastered. Also included are a-z cursive formation flashacards.

Each A4 sheet has an outlinr of the numeral, dotted numeral with number aid and black lined numeral. There is a section with a dotted line to practise freehand. I’d recommend laminating and using a whiteboard pen. Number formation flashcards also included.

This activity is based on Peepo! It was created for Reception children as an introduction to their craft activity. The activity was to create their own picture with a spy hole and share it with their friend before adding it to a display!

I created this PowerPoint to use alongside hands-on activities in the Reception classroom. Our current topic is Materials, and after a trip to the Thinktank I tried to recreate the activities that they carried out with my Reception class.

Bingo game made up of words that begin with consonant clusters. cl, br, bl, cr, sp and tr. - Each child has a bingo board and six counters. -Teacher calls out a word. -Children segment and blend. -If they have the word they place a counter over the top. -Teacher calls next word. Repeat. -Once a child has covered all words on their board they call Bingo!

I created this alphabet mat for my Reception Class. Please note not all schools follow the same cursive formation for all letters. I know it will not be useful to all teachers as it may not have the correct formation for your school, but I hope it will help some teachers.

Another way to encourage writing within the Reception class! This comic strip enables the children to draw illustrations in sequence before adding speech and thoughts for their characters.

Explore the school environment investigating objects and the materials that they are made from! Great starter for a Materials topic. In the next session I discussed the materials and their properties, providing labels with words such as rough, smooth, soft, hard, bendy and allowed the children to explore their surroundings sticking the labels onto different materials. After, I checked the labels, discussed their findings and cleared up any misconceptions that arose.
