Created and used with a LA Year 5 numeracy group, but can be easily adapted by changing the criteria and prices. Working in pairs, chn had to decide on rooms, decor and additional luxuries for their hotel. To work out the total prices they had to use their long multiplication skills they had been learning that week. Chn found this challenging, but really enjoyed it.

Word problems involving calculating weight with a Willy Wonka theme. The amounts can easily be changed to suit year group and ability. Made this for a very low ability year 5 group (levels 2a-3c).

Used with a Year 5 below average numeracy group. Used with a Harry Potter videogame map that I then drew on the bus route (visual aid only, not needed for the worksheet to be completed). Range of questions based on the timetable at the top of the sheet.

Bus, ferry and train timetable activity. Used with a below average year 5 numeracy group at the end of our topic on time. At the start of the lesson we watched the clip of Paddington Bear being found at Paddington station. Chn to use the timetables to take Paddington Bear on a trip around the UK. Chn have 12 hours to take him as far as possible. I also made a map of the UK, drawing on the lines and stops for the train, bus and ferry routes (locations were accurate, however journey duration not).

A weeks cross curricular planning and resources for adverts (literacy) based on Tudor houses (history). This planning was designed for a Year 5 class, but can easily be tweaked for other year groups/ability level. Documents include: Planning, flipchart (inspire software, but easily imported into Smart), rhetorical question starters, a boring advert for children to improve and a Tudor house challenge that is based on children answering questions using their knowledge from that week. Used with Year 5 below average numeracy group. The nursery rhyme has been split into sections to create a time story. Chn to work out elapsed time to complete the time story. Follow up activity the next day to create their own time story with a nursery rhyme for another group to work out - resources for this all uploaded so check my other resources.

Interactive digital clock that counts down from 20 mins to 1 min. There are several powerpoint slides that start from each minute and counts down to zero. You can copy and paste the slide from the powerpoint to nother so fits in nicely with the flow of the presentation. Used it for timed challenges with children across KS1 & KS2, is great so they can see exactly how much time they have left. Is a big display too so easily seen.

Tudor family tree research, cut and paste activity. Great for starting the topic. All cut outs are a perfect fit for the family tree boxes, all you need to do is simply print, cut and stick. Can be blown up to go on display too.

KS1 picture sorting activity based on evergreen and deciduous trees. Included in document: 18 images of evergreen and deciduous trees, answer sheet and information about the properties of evergreen and deciduous trees. All sheets ready to be printed and laminated, if you wanted to. Activity would work best used in small groups with adult support. Could be used as an introduction before an exploration in woodland area. Meets new curriculum objective: Identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants, including deciduous and evergreen trees.

A set of three differentiated worksheets of division with remainders word problems. Used with a low year 5 group and a middle year 4 group. The numbers can easily be changed to suit a range of ability levels. Each sheet is further colour coded with the questions becoming progressively harder.

A set of three differentiated word problem sheets based on the chn needing to convert capacity. Used with a low year 5 group and a middle year 4.

A set of differentiated word problem activities for chn to practice x by 10, 100 and 1000. Used with a very low year 5 group and a year 4 middle group. Please note the "Red high" task was quite tricky and chn did need the adult support as these included decimals.

A set of fronted adverbial examples for display. Sized on A3, ready to print and laminate.

KS1 leaf hunt activity - challenge sheet with names and pictures to accompany a walk in the environment. Ready to print and laminate (if you wish for continuous use). Activity would work best as mixed ability group/paired with adult support. Could work as a good introduction to writing tasks (poetry, fact files, similes etc). Meets new curriculum objective: Identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants, including deciduous and evergreen trees.

A set of four literacy lessons (adjectives, adverbs, captions and similes) with a dinosaur theme. KS1, but can be used for KS2. Each section includes an explanation, example and task for chn to complete. Can be used as main activity or as a mini revision. Can be used as individual or group challenge work. This is an Inspire flipchart, but can easily be imported into Smart or Powerpoint.

A set of colour coded place value challenge cards and a set of extension cards. Used with a low year 5 group and a middle year 4 group. Can be very easily adapted to suit different year groups/ability level.

A set of 6 place value games, with whole and decimal numbers, for KS2 maths starters or main activities. These can also be easily adapted for KS1. Ideas for differentiation/variation with each game can be found on the first contents page. They have all been tried and tested successfully with chn from years 2-6. All resources needed, with the exception of counters and dice, are included in the pack. All you need to do is print and laminate, if you wish. Used with a low ability year 5 maths group and a middle year 4 group. A fun alternative for chn to get practicing their column addition skills. I have also added in the additional challenge of chn estimating the answers and moves first with the more able, which has worked well.

Activity based on a toy shop having a sale. Chn will need to work out the percentage in order to find out how much the customers will be saving and then what the new price of the item is. This can be an individual task, or in pairs or small groups. I have used this with a low year 5 group and a middle year 4 group. I've also used this to then set up a toy shop in the classroom where chn have had to actually price up the items.

KS2 maths rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 investigation that encourages chn to think carefully about odd and even numbers and patterns in numbers. Used with a low year 5 group and middle year 4 group. SEN/Low chn will need support and would recommend this group work with an adult.

Chn use the directions on the challenge cards (mixture of language used) and the potion ingredient sheet to find the missing answers. Planned for a low ability Year 5 group, but can easily be adapted.
