This resource supports the 2016 Health and Social Care specification, National Extended Diploma. It is a PowerPoint with 86 slides and x3 accompanying handouts, it covers all teaching and learning for learning aims C&D. There is an array of tasks set within the PowerPoint such as; 10 and 15 minute challenges relating to the students chosen health promotion, the creation of wordclouds to aid memory and to help the student embed key terminology, Q&A, research tasks, summaries following on from reading articles and watching videos, matching models/theories to specific examples, class debate on media and public health, reflection exercises, group tasks etc. Specific links made to the assessment criteria for learning aims C&D. Multi coloured and grey speech bubbles included and both left and right speech bubbles, so you can alternate them on the board. (I asked my second year students to write to my first year students offering them advice i.e. how to get into a good study routine, revision techniques, time management, how to achieve the high grades etc) (I choose the red speech bubbles from the multi-coloured ones, to match the lettering, along with the grey speech bubbles.)

CPLD 2016 Spec for either the BTEC Extended Diploma (EYE) or the Extended Certificate. Great for revising all content for Units 1 and 2. All based on Jan 2021 or Nov 2020 past exam papers for Unit 1. All answers are evidenced on the marking schemes/examiners reports on Pearson’s website. Focus on paired work - think-pair-share, retrieval and practice to get students fluent and confident. ‘Solve & switch’ activity - based on 8 mark questions (‘discuss’) Students choose a question from the deck, answer it, repeat process with other cards and then compare with their peers answers. Finally compare with marking scheme/examiners report. (Look at similarities/differences/misconceptions/gaps in knowledge etc) ‘Chat stations’ activity - x5 chat stations all multi-coloured. Focus on samples from examiners reports. These are to be pinned up around the room and in pairs students ‘chat’ about the marks they feel should be awarded and then compare with marking schemes/examiner reports and discuss in pairs how they could further improve the answers. ‘Roll & recall’ activity - You will need dice for this. The students roll the dice and then recall what’s requested of them on the instruction card. Repeat until students have exhausted all knowledge of your chosen theorist/theory. Could be used for Unit 2 CPLD too.

A booklet - great for revision in the run up to the Unit 2 externally assessed exam; Development of Children’s Communication, Literacy and Numeracy Skills. Reflective of the 2 most recent Part A’s from Jan 2021 and Nov 2020. I instruct the students to read and highlight key words first. Then on a post it note jot down key words/concepts to help them form their PEEL’s. Then without notes they produce a PEEL in 1 colour and on completion create the same PEEL but this time they have access to their class notes and use a different colour, so they can compare. The booklet includes the marking scheme for activity 1 and lots of top tips.
