In this folder, you will find a complete Scheme of Work for studying Nella Larsen’s 1929 Harlem Renaissance novel, Passing. This SOW is designed for the OCR A Level specification for American Literature. The folder contains a 338 slide PowerPoint - a full SOW that covers pre-reading, context, detailed sections of study for each part of the novel, and post-reading activities. There are occasional references to the comparative set text our centre uses, The Great Gatsby. Alongside the main SOW PowerPoint, there is also a resource folder that contains all handouts, sheets etc referred to in the PPT. There are 4 other folders, containing resources for AO3, AO4, AO5 and starter and review tasks.

This is part of OCR’s new push on diverse voices and is for their Paper 2 American Literature option. Each section of the text has 5-6 pages each, with space for Cornell notes and a margin of directed prompts to support students’ understanding of the text.
