Christmas Quiz

(93)
This is a Christmas Quiz I have made for my end of term tutor group party. It's great as a special one-off Christmas lesson. Some questions have answers specific to 2014 but there is nothing stopping you changing the question if you use it at a later date. There are also a couple of questions specific to Huddersfield, where my school is based, so those might need to be amended for your classes too. I have included the answers as a word file. Hope you enjoy it!

This is a resource I put together as revision for my Year 10 group. It's really simple, fully hyperlinked and builds a great atmosphere in the classroom. Each slide has been styled to reflect the Edwardian theme and includes images that help to develop contextual understanding as well. There are six categories for students to pick from: Characters Themes Quotes Act 1 Act 2 Act 3 Each category has five questions that have a points value. The greater the value, the harder the question. There are also some bonus questions and double points hidden away to add a little spice! It takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on the number of teams you have and the ability of the class. The answers are on each slide making it a perfect lesson for cover too.

Christmas Quiz - ' Quizmas!'

Welcome to Quizmas! Quizmas is a fun, Jeopardy-style game show designed to make the end of term that little bit easier. It was made with KS3, KS4 and KS5 in mind, but Year 5 and 6 should also be able to access the questions. It takes between 45 minutes and an hour depending on the variables of your groups. The class will need to be in small teams. As this is a jeopardy style game show, success doesn’t just come from knowing the answer. Students can still win points, for answers they dont know, by nominating other teams in the hope they get the question wrong. This however is a risk, as they can also give other teams a bit of a boost. Quizmas has 6 categories for your class to pick from: Christmas Past - questions about the history of Christmas Christmas Present - questions about today’s Christmas Father Christmas - questions about Santa Christmas Dinner - questions about food traditions Christmas Tree - questions about decorations Christmas Carols - questions about Christmas songs. The questions are all general knowledge. Each question has been allocated a points value. The higher the points, the harder the question. There are also some double points questions tucked away to add a little spice and raise the stakes. Merry Christmas!

Representations of Speech Strange Meeting ELLA2 I put this PowerPoint together, in conjunction with the AS English Language and Literature textbook, to illustrate the representations of speech in Strange Meeting (and in other texts). I wanted students to be able to identify speech representations in a range of examples as well as in the text. There is about 6 lessons worth of material here, though the resource is not yet complete. I will update it when I have completed teaching it. Ideal for the ELLA2 Specification up until 2015.
