Recovery Curriculum booklet for tutor time/pastoral

(0)
Created by an assistant headteacher with both pastoral and curriculum responsibilities, this resource is based on extensive stakeholder voice throughout the lockdown period of March-July 2020. This booklet was designed to support the ‘Recovery Curriculum’ (Carpenter 2020) in the autumn term. It is underpinned by 4 main learner attributes which pull together aspects of self-care, caring for others, resilience, developing metacognition and independent study. It is in booklet form in anticipation of possible further school closures and can be worked through without any input from the form tutor (although form tutor input is ideal, of course). Pupils are asked to evaluate themselves at the beginning and the end of the booklet, setting themselves targets to be met by the end of the autumn term. Both of these points in the booklet will require some extended tutor time (45-60 mins). Every other activity has its own page and it is envisaged that a page a week is covered (perhaps 20-30 minutes of tutor time each week). There is no additional planning required by the form tutor or Head of Year. Each weekly activity forms a solid basis for an assembly to further support the recovery curriculum and it is also hoped that class teachers will make reference to the learner profile and weekly activities in their lessons to further strengthen this.
