A problem solving 'adventure&' where students just follow the short story and solve 3 problems by forming quadratic equations and solving them with the quadratic formula (or otherwise).

Teams arrange cards face down in a square formation (up to 6x6) and take turns choosing cards, answering questions corresponding to their team number. Correct answer has a counter placed on it, otherwise returned face down. Aim is to get 4 in a row or 5 or more than half... Teams have answers for the other team's questions reducing teacher involvement. Format can be used to make cards for other topics. I use a different colour for each topic so they can be mixed and separated easily. I have a blank template and other topics I can upload if this gets used.

A chocolate based investigation - you might want to use M&Ms instead of the Indonesian ChaChas. A mini-project for students to collect data about the number of different colour chocolates in packets. Then use data to try to predict the next packet and interpret the results. Finally, produce a presentation on the activity.

Solving nth root of complex numbers (solution included). Two equations to be solved and then the eight roots to be arranged into a crossword-style set of boxes. Developed for FP2 Further Complex Numbers - de Moivre’s theorem. Something a little different to textbook exercises but still practising the same skills.
