This sow was written for a year 11 or 10 class to create a TIE performance to deliver to a year 6 class in a primary school. Some students created moving up pieces whilst others created pieces on history topics relevant to primary curriuculm . It is important to liase with your local primary schools for this to work well . Some of my students delivered 1 hour workshops to a primary class. It would work as project for able year 9 group and could easily be adapted to year 7 as a target audience.

Sow – Devising a drama performance using seven deadly sins as a stimulus Created for GCSE groups to explore practitioners for devising . Could be used to introduce Brecht , Boal or to refresh knowledge depending on the group. Re capping proxemics , body language , non naturalistic characters. I would use this and once the group start to buzz with ideas , give them 10 hours to create and perform . Performance standard to an audience , class invited / parents in the evening. Dress and technical rehearsal . This is 8 lessons at the start of the project to stimulate ideas for devising .

This sow was written for year 9 , for the Christmas term to motivate them to perform and experiment using sound to create character and create mood , tension and atmosphere. Students should have fun creating scenes from basic summaries of the plot. of Christmas Carol . Adding costumes, sounds and potentially lighting building up to perform to another class if confident enough . This is a fun way of ending the Christmas term as lower school can watch some of the pieces . Performance will give year 9 confidence and can encourage them to choose GCSE . It can be adapted for younger groups easily. ks3 The topics gives the opportunity for students to learn about social and historical context. Sow and power points to deliver to a year 9 class. Designed to be delivered for class assessments at the end of the unit as group performances .( groups of 3-6) This sow has been used to create ensemble performances that have been shared across the year group . The topic can be sensitive and needs to be delivered with thought and active engagement on behalf of the teacher. It gives the opportunity for gang culture to be explored , considering consequences using conscience conventions and class discussions. Covering recap or teaching of split scene, semiotics of colour through costume and music, hot seating, nightmare chair, flashbacks , chorus, stage fighting and ensemble. Opportunity to use West side story to introduce alternative versions of Romeo and Juliet.

A series of lessons based around the mystery of Tutankhamun. It has been altered to add the idea of creating a puppet show in light of more class room based work. This was written originally for a weak year 9 class, but has been adapted and taught to year 7, more able year 9 and used by year 10/11 to devise TIE performances. There are 4 main lessons/ starting points , which can easily be extended into further lessons. In its current form the intention is to teach 1 hour lessons , and give students the opportunity to extend the starting points to create an assessment piece. It has been altered to add the idea of creating a puppet show in light of more class room based work. Templates for puppet ideas are included in the powerpoints as well as information sheets that I have found useful when not teaching in a room with power point access. I have previously created simple puppet stages using tables and stage blocks, which I feel will work well as we experiment with social distancing.

A drama sow , designed to motivate year 9 to keep performing . Students create a murder mystery from character profiles of members of a band. It works well not to tell them its a murder until the second lesson . I have introduced or recapped on Stanislavski , plot shaping and learning journeys for students who are intrested in GCSE . It gives the opportunity for more able students to develop their use of lights, sound and costumes. I have included reflection sheets for peer and self reflection and learning journeys that can be completed by students as fits in with your schools needs.

A sow written for drama students originally for year 9 but can be used with other year groups. Introduces using real peoples stories and events to create drama. Students use flashbacks, thought tracking , slow motion. More able/ year 10 could use captions/ speech bubbles. etc 6 lessons. 5 lessons teaching , 6th lesson assessment task. can add basic costumes etc Sow with lesson plans, power point with information and lessons. Power point with timeline and word document reflection sheet. Costume design would work well for homework task or research .

A drama sow, 5 lessons based around the environment of the school and community. Students have the potential to create short pieces for use in an assembly or to create pieces to show a lower school year. Covers thought tracking, split scenes, abstract characters and creating a Theatre in Education performance as an assessment piece. Would work for year 7 or year 8

A lesson designed to be used either in a classroom or drama studio. Power point contains a quiz with quick or detailed answers, to adapt for your group. Basic plot for devising, script writing or monologue or costume design. two files to form an A3 learning journey when photocopied double sided and folded into A4. I would deliver a few weeks before Bonfire night and extend by students acting out a whole classroom drama a modern day court room.

This sow was written to encourage students to explore environmental issues through drama. The topic covers creating an ensemble , mantle of the expert, speech writing and hot seating . Students create a community meeting to give a balanced view to the audience .

Drama sow, 5 lessons using different stimulus to create rehearsed improvisations . Lesson plans and power point, end of topic reflection sheet and poppy template. Students will use images, poetry to devise whilst developing conventions of thought tracking , slow motion and symbolism of poppies and white feathers.

Sow written for year 7 drama class of approx 30 . Works well for year 8 too. Using basic plot students learn basic pantomime conventions and create their own version of the story. In groups of 3-6 students will create a 10 minute performance. This can be shown to other year groups if the class are willing ! Ideally add costumes, sound effect, music etc to develop dress rehearsal skills and performance confidence of students. Includes a learning journey , which students can use to develop the performance and a basic reflection sheet.
