This lesson on Roman Numerals was used for a (successful) interview lesson. It does rely on the children having prior knowledge of Roman Numerals and works well either as a stand alone refresher lesson or could be a hook in a week of lessons. It’s a fun and differentiated decoding activity where children must solve the questions and use their answers to uncover the secret message. It links with the White Rose planning and uses the mastery questions.

This was for a successful interview task for a year 4 class, lasting half an hour. Included is a powerpoint, giving examples of what an adverbial phrase is and how to use it, a lesson plan (to give you an idea of how to use the resources), some image stimuli and helpful table for the main task and a starter task.
