This is a lesson plan I created and used on my 2nd year university placement, looking at one more and one less from a given number (e.g. what is one less than 6?) I hope someone finds this useful =)

Can children put the words in alphabetical order? Couple of the words have the same start letter, so encourage children to look at the rest of the word. Good starter activity. To adapt the game and change words to your own categories, click on the pencil on the game. To make your own games click on the little alien that says "Smart LAB" when you hover over the icon.

Roll it, count it, try to halve it

A good activity for small groups or 1-1. Children roll a dice (also use dice more than 6) and collect that number of counters and put in the pot. Try to halve the counters by adding one at a time to each ice cream. Good for children to recognise which numbers can be halved and which can not. Could also be adapted for doubling.

Spelling made fun

These are a selection of activities some of my peers and I designed for a 'make spelling fun' evening at a local primary school as part of my English specialism. I would use a different one every fortnight as this is something the children could look forward to. I hope someone finds this useful =).

Instructions Cards

9 cards with simple classroom instructions. Teach the children the vocabulary first (see bottom of page) in both English and French (use larger versions of these cards to demonstrate a picture-word correspondence). Cut out the little cards and provide enough for one per pair. Turn the cards over. One at a time the children pick a card and mime the action to their partner. I hope someone finds this as useful as I did =)
