I am trying a new booklet to help students to prepare for the New GCSE - first teaching Sep 2024 - This is covering three tasks - reading aloud - role play and picture+conversation - I have followed the first Thematic context ‘My personal World’ to my understanding and modelling from the EDEXCEL SAMS - Please write your suggestions to improve it - will produce more if any interests. No and Me literature lessons on the characters - No and Lou No et Moi - Les personnages - This presentation covers: Lou: how she feels, her personality, her struggle to adapt herself to the world, her relationship with No, her development. No: personnality, lonliness, development, how she changes. The objectives are to give students ideas on how to find evidence in the book, show understanding of the writer’s techniques and build a critical analysis (AO4), plan an essay on the main characters using essay phrases with idiomatic expressions (AO3), starting as a whole class planning followed by a test in class. An extra idea in this lesson: get students to share ideas using whiteboard and aim at writing an essay together. Hope this is ok, works great after the lesson of writer’s methods! This presentation explains the writer’s methods, an essential skill for AO4 A level. Behind every piece of writing, there is a purpose—a reason the author chose to write it. Even if it’s just to entertain, either an audience or themself by writing it, the author has a purpose and will use a variety of writing techniques to accomplish that purpose. Having insight into the techniques authors use to influence readers is like opening a window into how your favorite novel, poem, article, or really any piece of writing truly functions. In No et Moi, De Vigan uses a variety of writing techniques to achieve this sense of realism.

No and Me literature lessons on the themes of : **la solitude, l’exclusion, l’amour’ **( homelessness, social exclusion and love/friendship). Works great after the lesson of writer’s methods. Should cover a minimum of 3 lessons as you go through the book, leading up to showing essay plans and model answers. The objectives are to explain the 3 main themes, with evidence and examples they can include in their work. Give students ideas on how to plan an essay on social exclusion, starting as a whole class planning. The same technique are used with the other themes. Some planning ideas: 1.Presentation of the themes with evidence to share with the students. Class discussion. Students share ideas using whiteboard app on their phones and aim at planning an essay together. Ideas come up on the interactive board. Also worked great when used during remote learning with some students at home. Bonne lecture et bonnes lecons!
