This booklet covers all the subjects in Unit 1 Number and Place Value. Could be a way to revise Year 3 before starting Year 4 in September.

These Next Steps labels are not just for the more able. All children need to have a deeper understanding of the writing process. Having them stop and think about what they do and why is an ideal way to achieve this. The Next Step questions can be run off as sticky labels (details and sizes below), or they could be run off on paper and then glued into books. There is a group of generic questions (green border) that could be used for any piece of writing, and there is a group of questions for specific genre (pink borders). There is no limit to the number of times you can ask these questions, and addressing some of the children’s responses in groups or whole class will deepen understanding.
