A 7 week scheme of work to introduce year 8 to stanislavski and his techniques. Aims and objectives: To explore what came before Stanislavski (contextual – to facilitate towards naturalism) To physically explore the stock characters of melodrama. To understand who Stanislavski is and his style of theatre. To explore how to create believable characters through different Stanislavskian techniques. To understand how Stanislavski uses a script to ‘get to know’ his character and to make them real. To use this knowledge to create a believable character in performance. Understanding subtext and how this can influence your performance.

This SOW has 6-7 weeks. working alongside the script ‘Bang out of order’ (SCRIPT NOT NEEDED FOR SOW) Each week students will look at a variety of different devising techniques or alongside working on developing performance skills. It ends with an assessment complete with a student friendly assessment criteria.

A term one scheme of work for year 7. Learning aims and objectives: To get familiar with the Grading criteria and identify where they are and targets for the year. To understand the rules of the Drama Studio and abide by them. To understand what the 6 main performance skills are. To understand and embed vocal modulation skills. To understand the effect Levels and Proxemics has on an audience. To understand how to convey emotions to the audience. To understand the different interpretations of eye contact. Understand how each skill can show an audience how the character is feeling, thinking and personality traits. To understand the importance of staying in character. A 7 week scheme of work with clear success criteria for each lesson to ensure the students and teacher can track progress and data.
