La moda rápida, Conti-Style Spanish Lesson
A complete, ready-to-teach PowerPoint lesson on fast fashion for KS4/National 5 Spanish (also suitable for Higher / AS level as an introduction to the topic), built entirely around Gianfranco Conti’s methodology - heavy scaffolding, low-stakes retrieval tasks, and constant recycling of the same target language so lower-confidence and mixed-ability learners build real familiarity before they’re asked to produce anything independently.
Every task in this lesson feeds the next: the same core sentences appear in a sentence-level warm-up, then the listening, then the reading, then the games, so students meet the key structures four or five times in different formats before the lesson ends.
What’s included (12 slides):
Starter – low-stakes oral recall of known clothes/shopping vocabulary
Vocabulary input – 10 new fast fashion terms with icons and English translations
Sentence-level warm-up before the listening – matching and translation tasks built from the exact sentences students are about to hear
Listening task – full script and audio file (teenager talking about her shopping habits and views on fast fashion) with a 9-gap cloze activity and word bank.
Sentence-level warm-up before the reading – same format, recycling language from the reading text
Reading task – ~100-word parallel text starting with cognates and building to opinion language, with comprehension questions
Writing task – sentence-builder table plus a 3-tier scaffolded writing frame (“Apoyo total” / “Nivel medio” / “Reto”) so every learner can access the same opinion-writing task at their own level
Model answers & self-assessment – full answers for every task plus a student “Puedo…” can-do checklist
3 bonus Conti-style games – Roba la frase (Sentence Stealer), Eco defectuoso (Faulty Echo, with full teacher script), and Bingo de vocabulario — drop into any point in the lesson for extra fun exposure to the same language
