This is a doccument I produced to help me to write reports as a Reception Class Teacher. I have been using this for a number of years now. The first page has sentence starters to support writing about the children linked to the Characteristcs of Effective Learning (note: I work in a Bristol school where we have an additional section for Emotional Wellbeing). e.g. Playing and Exploring - Engagement • You show a wonderful curiosity in your learning, for example when… • You use your senses to explore the world around you when… • You join in with open-ended activities such as… • You show a particular interest in… • You represent your experiences in play when you… The subsequent pages have examples of next steps for learning for Phonics, Maths, Reading and Emotional Wellbeing.

A simple word doccument for the days where you’ve had to teach with no planning left for you. Leave this for the class teacher and jot down what you’ve taught, what activity you did and who did well / needs extra help.
