(0)
This is a clearly structured and presented presentation about how to calculate the area of shapes. It takes your class through step by step what area means, how to calculate it and even has a fun song for the children to learn about the difference between area and perimeter! * Included is a lesson plan and differentiated resources to support your learners and challenge their thinking. * Wal: to calculate the area of a shape Success Criteria: Can I define area? Can I find the area and width of a shape? Can I multiply carefully? Challenge: can I find the area of compound shapes? * Other fun ideas: masking tape a grid onto the carpet and make large shapes to go over it. Then you can work out the area of them practically.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Literacy Lessons Week 1

(0)
Here we have week 1 of a series of literacy lessons to introduce Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is all beautifully presented and clearly explained in my lesson plan sequence. In the lesson plan I have written some suggestions on how to differentiate activities from MA (more able) learners, Core learners and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) groups of learners. I have included the resources with the file. This lesson is best suited upper Key Stage 1 or Lower Key Stage 2. However would be easily adapted. Lesson 1: Predicting and inferring from an image from the story. Lesson 2: Meet Charlie. Describe the character planning. Role on the Wall. Lesson 3 (and potentially 4) Writing up the character description Final Lesson: Questioning Charlie using Question Matrix and hot seat. It would be nice also to show the children clips from the films also to give them an exciting experience. I also suggested that you may be able to give them a taste of cabbage soup just like Charlie! There are many links to speaking and listening, role play, PSHE, art and PE even! With this text the possibilities are limitless!
