5 days worth of English and guided reading planning based upon ‘The Tyger’ by William Blake. Can be taught separately or as one unit with guided reading before the English lessons. By the end of the guided reading unit, children will have the following VIPERS skills: Vocabulary, inference and explanation. They will also have recited the poem and identified the features of poetry. By the end of the English unit, children will have planned and written their own animal poems and explored and identified metaphors, similes, expanded noun phrases and the features of poetry.
