Aimed for year 10 with extra theory activities this is the Wicked SOW that I teach my classes. Tried and tested. This SOW includes Listening activities, teaching resources, powerpoint led lessons and worksheets that ca be used alongside the powerpoints.

This is a powerpoint and music resources to teach pretty much the whole of the Beethoven set work for GCSE music with Edexcel. It covers melody, rhythm, instrumentation, harmony, tonality and structure. I haven't mentioned texture because I use that as a talking point throughout the lessons. A word document with assessment questions that link closely to the exam has been added. Resources are on the powerpoint for ease and should be printed from the powerpoint for ease. A few activities are suggested on the powerpoint too.

This is a GCSE resource that I teach my year 10’s. I have created a booklet to work alongside a powerpoint. I have tried to make it as simple to use as possible. I teach my whole SOW with this resource and it usually takes around 8 lessons. I have some rather odd activities that I do (you will see this on the powerpoint) they may not be suitable for some classes. I like to keep the cost low as I only want to have enough money so I can buy other resources.

This is a powerpoint with links all based around Jurassic world. It’s about 5 lessons worth. I then show then the film in the last 2 lessons. It has a strong focus on some of the musical elements. Although I put on a small fee this is not to rob people, I keep it cheap because I want enough money in the pot so I can buy resources myself.

7 Page Workbook. This is a workbook introducing the Beethoven SOW for Edexcel GCSE music. The booklet covers the key points about the elements in this piece. This booklet works alongside the Powerpoint that I have uploaded.

Revision material with a strong focus on the instrumentation of the Brandberg Concerto in Dmajor This is a 30 - 45 minute activity Lesson Plan- Prep. Print off the clues, cut up and stick around the room. Print off the Murder mystery sheet per student or for a pair of students. Lesson: In character tell the students as they walk in that there has been a murder. Play mysterious or eerie music in the background (from youtube). Explain to the class that they must find out who the murderer is. Insist that they must give a reason for each guess and that their notes must be written down on the sheet. You could offer a prize for the correct answer. Let them read the clues and come up with their own ideas. Some of the wording has been adapted to give musical clues.

This is an intro to the woodwind family lesson. It has the resources for a 30 minute lesson however it should take 50-55 minutes if you have instruments for demonstrations. I teach this as a one off lesson if I am out the practical class room. The activity is for students to find the answers around the room and complete their activity sheets. Great with y6 or y7. This lesson focusses on the flute, clarinet, oboe and bassoon and encourages students to get up and move around the classroom.
