A collection of design and technology starters aimed at GCSE. Each slide includes a ‘odd one out’ question and a 'what can you see in the picture?' These are to provoke general discussion and revision. Also includes the answers. There was 16 starters in total. I’ve attached a PDF and powerpoint version of this.

All about materials booklet aimed for use within KS3, GCSE and A-Level design and technology. Forms the basis of a workbook for students to fill in and become a revision tool. Looks at material classification, material properties, finishes, some manufacturing and stock forms. Looks into wood, metal, plastic, manufactured boards, composites, smart materials, new materials and textiles. Will be using with the new GCSE particularly for students to research materials and their properties. They will make notes of these.

Useful for KS3/4 - I have tried to base tasks and infomation around exam style questions.

A short project that students can complete at home. It covers a range of areas associated with sustainability 6Rs Packaging symbols Fast fashion Upcycling It includes a mixture of written and design tasks. Works really well with KS3 and can be set over a period of time.

A range of different sheets for KS3 and GCSE all about plastic. Asks exam style questions. Differentiated sheets with keyword include and MA questions. Sometimes students write inside the wheel and sometimes it’s used as question prompts and write in their book.

A full scheme of work for creating block-bots with students. Included: -Scheme of work outlining learning outcomes, keywords, differentiation and resources lesson by lesson. -A full power point to use in lessons - 52 slides in total. -‘A first thoughts sheet’ for students to fill in. 2 x for differentiation. -A basic theme exploration sheet. -Hazards and control methods homework sheet. -Design development homework sheet. -Marking out homework sheet x 2 levels for differentiation. I use this with year 8 but it can be used with any year group in KS3. It allows students to have a basic understanding of using machines with some theory involved. 2 x differentiated simple homework to help students to gain practice marking out materials on paper before they actually do it during the lesson. The higher worksheet also introduces students to tolerance and gives them questions to work out whether a product would pass or fail a tolerance test. This homework could be used for KS3 Design & Technology. It also includes maths which suits the new style of the GCSE D&T. There is a word version of worksheets and a PDF version of each.

Design a destination shoe project Students are to pick somewhere in the world and design a shoe based on it. They must research the different landmarks, colours and images first. This powerpoint guides students through the whole project including learning objectives, tasks, examples and some ‘just for fun’ quizzes. This will be fine to set as a home learning task / project.

2 x A3 brand identity sheets This have been slightly adapted for LA students with tips at the bottom. Useful for branding products or as a extension task when students have finished making their practical work. I get students to bring in logos for homework and then stick them onto the sheet to explain their strengths and weaknesses before coming up with their own designs.
