This is a lesson aimed to get students to understand what a leitmotif is, hear a variety of examples, understand how they are used and give them an oppertunity to create their own.
This PowerPoint presentation will help guide any lesson where you are trying to teach pupils to sequence drum beats in GarageBand both simple and complex. It includes music examples I have created which can be played straight through the PowerPoint. These examples are also backed up with screenshots of GarageBand's Piano Roll windows so pupils have a visual guide.
This was designed with year 5-7 students in mind. I run 2 single periods (35 mins) of music a week with my classes, so 1 class is theory and the other is performance. In the theory lesson you will explore one of the three elements and in the performance lesson you will combine the theory to a xylophone OR boomwhacker performance.
Enjoy!
This is an engaging starter activity which will get pupils attention due to it containing current repertoire. It contains all the music needed on a spotify playlist and an easy to use worksheet for the pupils to write down their answers.
PowerPoint used to demonstrate how dance music has evolved over time. Each era has information and a video clip to aid.
I used this lesson as a jumping point to lead into creating a dance music composition in GarageBand.
