Rivers and Water Class Assembly **Fully Editable**

(0)
This class assembly was written for Year 6 but could easily be used in lower years. The script takes around 20 minutes to perform and has enough parts for any sized group. There are lots of speaking roles that can be shared or added to and plenty of non-speaking parts as well. The first scene opens with people around the world discovering all the water on earth is gone. It leads to news reporters following the story around the world to various famous rivers (including Amazon, Nile, Ganges, Yangtze, Mississippi and Mekong). We hear about some of the current environmental issues at each site including pollution and the effect on ecosystems and food chains, urbanization and soil erosion, global warming and flooding, animal extinction, over population, deforestation, rain forest destruction, People finally come and demand their water back but the rivers ask for certain promises from the humans. The play offers suggestions for 'viewers' to help out our environment in general. There is a very effective demonstration of water waste from leaving taps on while brushing teeth that leaves the audience thinking about their actions. The document is written as an open and editable word document, so you can edit and adapt for your group. We hope you enjoy!

Victorian class assembly script

(0)
This script was written for a year 4 class, but could easily be adapted for other year groups. It covers topics from our term including healthy eating and balanced diets; inner forces and temptation; Victorian inventions, schools and life for rich vs poor. It is titled Oliver and Olivia and is based on Oliver Twist. It begins in the orphanage's food hall (discuss healthy eating). The 'twins' then leave for London and meet the pickpockets (discuss temptation of stealing). Then they meet a friendly lady who takes them in (discuss school and life of rich vs poor). There are currently 17 speaking roles but this number can be increased by sharing lines (for example there are 4 pickpockets who each have 4 or 5 lines, but you could increase the pickpockets and decrease the number of lines). We used 2 songs in this play as well - Food Train and Pick a Pocket or Two. They are not included, but can easily be found online or changed/removed all together. **Please note this is a PDF file, so cannot be edited. It is double spaced so that character roles can be written in by hand or amendments can be made on paper. We also offer a fully editable version in a word document. Ancient Greece Class Assembly **Fully Editable**

This play script was written for a year 6 class. There are some concepts and words that make it appropriate for older grades as well. Some amendments might be necessary to use for younger years. There are phonetic spellings included beside certain words to help with pronunciation. The script is written with 25 speaking parts however these can easily be shared to make more parts (although there are plenty of non-speaking actions needed on stage). Lines can also be easily merged together to cater to smaller groups. Currently there are 8 narrator parts, 12 Greek gods and 5 villagers. It should take between 15-25 minutes to perform. The first scene of the play reviews some basic geographical facts and examines ancient maps versus today's. Things we have gained from ancient Greek culture such as democracy and philosophy are touched on as well. The second scene is a series of tableaus (students form a still image with their bodies, as if creating a snapshot or picture of an event) that help demonstrate just how long ago 'ancient Greece' was, by showing significant events in history. The third scene introduces the 12 main gods who lived on Mount Olympus. Students have the opportunity to present any class work that represents the gods. A shield designed to represent each one or a poster that highlights each gods power or realm. The final scene is the only 'acting out' scene and it is a retelling of the myth about how Athens became Athena's city. This resource is a word document and is fully editable. Hope your class enjoys it as much as mine did!

Winter Poetry Unit - Before MorningQuick View

Winter Poetry Unit - Before Morning

(0)
This 5-6 day unit is based on the beautiful book and poem "Before Morning" by Joyce Sidman. It is a perfect winter themed poetry unit. It involves reading and interpreting the poem, exploring and writing metaphors, working as a class on a group wish poem and finally writing an independent invocation poem. You will need the book for this unit, or be able to watch it online. "Book Look" on You Tube has a version of it that is quite good. The unit includes a pack of detailed full page lesson plans with differentiated tasks for students outlined. It also includes 31 slides for presenting the lesson on an interactive whiteboard (these are saved as 'portrait' and so when opening in Adobe Reader, click 'View' and 'Rotate View'). Finally there are 25 pages of printable resources for use during the activities. We hope your students produce some powerful poems! Enjoy.

Charley and the Book Factory Class Assembly - **Fully Editable**

(0)
This script was written for a Year 6 class close to the national tests. It is intended to highlight everything they have been studying the entire year. As the script is fully editable, the topics that don't fit your class can be easily changed to suit your group (so really could be used for any age group). The play follows the theme of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory except it is a book factory and Wonka's golden tickets are hidden inside SATs revision books (could be changed to any type/genre of book for different year groups). Charlie only cares about studying and getting good grades but is thrilled to win and hopes to get a few more books from Mr. Wonka. Other kids want to win because they think that Mr Wonka will reveal some secrets that teachers have been hiding (like answers to SATs questions). Inside the book factory, the children tour different rooms. The first room is where story ideas begin. Kids review different types of writing and definitions can be shown on whiteboard or flipchart behind (devices such as 'flashbacks', 'informal vs formal', 'metaphors and similes'). The second room is like a laboratory and the competitive kids compete to show off their science knowledge (any science topics can be covered here - although the script covers properties of materials, sound, life processes, teeth and forces/gravity). The third room is a technology room, where a children compete to answer math questions (and demonstrate what they have learned). Questions covered include percentages of numbers, area of rectangles, converting km to m, decimals and fractions as well as reading coordinates. There are 14 main speaking character parts, 4 'nameless' speaking student parts and 6 non-speaking oompa loompas. The student parts can be split up to create more roles. There are plenty of opportunities for extra non-speaking roles and props people. The play should take between 15-25 minutes to perform. The resource is a word document and as mentioned fully editable. I hope your class enjoys it as much as mine did!

Autumn leaves counting activity

We originally used this alongside the book "Little Tree" by Loren Long, but it is just as good on its own. We have included 11 bare tree posters, one tree just on its own and the others each with a number 1-10. There is a sheet of various sized leaves as well. Using the number posters (laminated) children can add leaves and count up to the number shown. Teachers can add number sentences and have children count up and add or count back and subtract. Just a simple leafy activity for the fall! Hope you enjoy.

This resource includes posters for a few of the main construction vehicles along with their initial sounds. They can be used as posters or put on tables for an activity matching objects with the initial sounds shown. They fit in nicely with anyone using a construction or transport theme. Hope you enjoy!

Truck finger trace hand/eye activity

This simple one page activity encourages early learners to follow the path of the trucks with their fingers. This helps build up hand eye coordination and prepares them for the motions of writing and creating letter shapes. Great for a construction/vehicle theme or just for kids who love trucks! Hope you enjoy!
