A set of 6 lessons on the topic of Musicals, complete with animated powerpoint, and worksheets based on appraisal, composition and performance. This is designed for students in KS3 (11-14 years). Lessons include comparing Opera to Musical Theatre and composing in a Musical Theatre style.

A small scheme of work on the topic of Pop Ballads. Using the Ed Sheeran song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ as the performance this topic gives students the opportunity to learn the history of the modern pop ballad as well as improving their individual and group performance skills using a song they may know quite well.

You will need your own copy of that book to access these questions as I won’t write them in here for copyright reasons. However this resource is usable without those questions.

First lesson for year 10: an introduction to programme music. AoS4 for OCR GCSE exam board.

This lesson is on Danse Macabre by Saint Saens. I adapted a fantastic worksheet I found on here from another user to create two worksheets which are differentiated. The harder one requires more complicated answers while the easier one has prompts on to support weaker students.

Second lesson in programme music for year 10. This involves a composition activity and an evaluation.
